ACT’s total active cases is now at 102 after 8 new cases were recorded today. None of these cases were infectious in the community.

Campus’ risk classification is being dropped from Red Alert to High Risk. Under these new conditions Res Halls will maintain the “bubble system”, but residents will be able to get vaccinated, attend medical appointments and go grocery shopping. Essential work is also allowed under High Risk classifications. The risk classification will remain orange over the weekend and be re-assessed on Monday according to Vice-Chancellor Brian Schmidt.

Clarification about E-SAHO: The rules and regulations for Enhanced-Stay-at-Home-Orders at res halls on campus have been noted by many to be different to the rules everyone else in Canberra has to follow, examples of this being what is considered essential work. There has been discussion about ANU imposing harsher rules on its students than the ACT Government calls for. According to an ANU Spokesperson, the rules and regulations ANU has created for on-campus students were made in consultation with the ACT Government and are specifically designed for shared living spaces, whereas regular lockdown rules are designed for private and family homes.

16 new cases recorded overnight brings the territory’s total up to 83. There were also two cases detected in Queanbeyan.

With 5 of today’s cases being investigated, the ACT currently has 9 cases under investigation.
