News You Might Have Missed: Week 1
By Anthony Lotric
Whether your first week was spent diligently getting stuck into your readings, or desperately trying to work out where your class in Kambri is, get up to speed on the news you might have missed.
Campus
Two new cafès, Rex Espresso and Milligram, opened in Kambri. These are the first coffee shops to open in the new precinct.
Students with classes in the new Manning Clark Hall in Kambri’s Cultural Centre found an unusual seating arrangement awaiting them. As the tiered seating was not operational, students had to sit on white plastic outdoor chairs.
PARSA
PARSA held its Big Day event on Saturday, welcoming postgraduate and research students back for the academic year. The event featured food and live music from a variety of cultures.
ANUSA
ANUSA’s First Year Camp, which had been run every year since 2012, was cancelled on Thursday due to concern about a lack of “suitable… support mechanisms”. The decision to cancel the camp was made only one day before campers were due to depart.
