News You Might Have Missed: Week 4
By Adelle Millhouse
Week 4 has finished, so we’re coming to the pointy end of the term. If you’re keen to procrastinate from doing that assignment, catch up on the news you might have missed.
ANUSA
The ANUSA Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) on Thursday failed to gain quorum, and thus did not proceed. OGMs need 40 people to be quorate, a number which proved difficult to reach on multiple occasions last year. General Secretary Lachy Day said the meeting would be rescheduled.
Pizza with Brian was supposed to be held on Wednesday, but was postponed for an undisclosed reason. The Vice Chancellor did, however, find time to begin his wine production. He is branching out from Pinot Noir, starting production on his first Shiraz-Viognier.
ANU Union
The ANU Union Board elections concluded. Revive won three of the four positions, including the one-year postgraduate/Staff directorship. Relaunch had one candidate elected.
The Union also “soft-launched” its new space under Lena Karmel Lodge with a VIP Launch event. The space will officially open next week, and house a number of vendors, including Rosie’s Chicken, Juice Box, and the ANU Union Bar.
Clubs
The ANU New Zealand Society, in collaboration with the New Zealand High Commission and the ACT Government, held a vigil in solidarity with the New Zealand Muslim community in the wake of the Christchurch attacks. Thousands of people attended the event, which was held at the Nara Peace Park.
Ophel Trial
The Ophel Trial proceedings concluded. The jury is now deliberating. Please note that the daily blog contains details which may be distressing.
